Dear Editor:
Summerland continues to be a blessed place to live.
My parents moved here from Chilliwack 40 years ago and enjoyed farming and gardening and the rural style life.
Dad died in 2000 after three years of excellent care in Dr. Andrew Extended Care.

Mom, Joan Parkhurst, died this April in her own townhouse at the age of nearly 90.
I want to thank all the people who helped her the last three years — the kind women from Interior Health Home Support who visited four times a day for medications and safety; the volunteers from Rotary Club Meals on Wheels who brought nutritious meals with a smile three times a week and the friends Mom made from 40 years of living here who honoured her by attending her memorial.
Thank you.
Gail Guenther
