Editor:

Another year has passed, and we are getting ready to ring the bells one again. The need for the Penticton Salvation Army Food Bank services is greater than ever now due to the changing economic situation.

People on fixed incomes and those who have never used the food bank are now requesting our help. The funds raised by the Kettle Campaign stay in our community and are used to support programs and services for people in need. This past year we distributed more than 600 hampers per month and 200+lunches per day.

Last year, the Kettle Campaign raised $140,515 for family services, and our goal for 2022 is $160,000.

We have 500 shifts to fill again this year.

Can you help us by volunteering at a Kettle stand this Christmas?

We have seven locations in Penticton: Walmart 1, Walmart 2, London Drugs, Save-On-Foods, Super Store, Safeway and the BC Liquor store. We will also have weekend locations in Summerland, Osoyoos and Keremeos during the month of December.

The kettles will be out Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., from Nov. 14 to Dec. 24.

The shifts are two hours, and you can pick your own hour and location.

Please consider being a part of this exciting Christmas experience and sign up to ring the bells for the Salvation Army this year. Call Mary at 250-488-0726.

African Proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Let’s go far, Bell Ringers!
