Help needed for dogs in distress after cold weather hits

Here in Keremeos we have a situation where two dogs have been left on their own after the owner moved to Penticton

To the Editor:

I was shocked to see on Global TV news that a lady was fined $250 for leaving her dog outside the grocery store as she ran in to pick up a few things.

Here in Keremeos we have a situation where two dogs have been left on their own after the owner moved to Penticton.

Supposedly he comes every three or four days to feed them. These past few days the temperature has been down to -20 degreees Celsius, and these poor dogs are left outside both day and night. I see that someone has provided some hay for them to sleep on in their tiny doghouse.

The SPCA cannot do anything unless the neighbours can prove that the dogs haven’t been fed for five days. Forget about fresh water!

It’s too bad that those of us who would like to help these dogs can’t and those who could, won’t.

What is wrong with this picture?
