To the Editor:
I just had to respond to the latest vote on the reservoir project and what the Keremeos Irrigation District, the village council and village CAO have done.
First of all there have been two previous votes on the project and both have failed.
So with the wisdom of all mentioned above, they concocted a way in which they were guaranteed a yes vote. This was done by threatening people who are on the KID system if you don’t vote the way we want there will be an additional 200 dollars charged for water.
This is despicable and all those involved should be ashamed of themselves. Shame on you all!
I thought we lived in a democracy but it is clear to me that we don’t. We all know who is going to benefit from this extra water supply and it is the Keremeos one per cent.
So we still do have something that can be done and that is at election time we vote out every single person on the KID board and all of village council, and that will be democracy.
