In Loving Memory ~
It is with immense sadness that I announce the passing of my dear Momma, Theresa Georgina Neville (nee Beck) on December 12th, 2021 at the age of 80 years. Mom passed away with her family by her side, following a complicated course in hospital after she endured a fall. She will be dearly missed by her partner Ron Venne of 24 years, Laurie's partner (Jamie), her granddaughter Katlyn Powell (Brett) her grandson Aaron Alahaivala (Alannah) and the newest arrival to our family, her first great grandson, Grayson Bryan Alahaivala. Mom was able to see photos of her new great grandson prior to her passing which I know she will cherish forever.
She is survived by her sister Barb Hofer (Paul), her brother Wally Beck (Sam), as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Pauline and her parents Julia and Aaron Beck.
There are also many amazing friends far and wide, too many to mention, that will miss her smiling face.
Mom joined the RCAF in the early 1960's in Cold Lake, Alberta. We moved to the Comox Valley in 1971 where she then joined DND and worked there for almost 30 years before retiring in 1997.
Mom was known for her kind heart and warm welcoming smile. She took great pride in her gardens and could always be found in the yard puttering in her garden, pond, or greenhouse. Mom's flower garden was a sight to see, filled with flowers and fruit.
She spent much time tending to her Mason bees or feeding peanuts to her Jays, always making sure that the hummingbird feeder was full and without ice.
Mom was very talented, using her skills to make colourful mosaic creations from the seaside entrance way into their home to birdbaths for their garden. She enjoyed making cards with her sister Babs, and she then passed on those talents to myself and her granddaughter Katie. Her time with family was very important to her, spending countless hours with her grandkids as they grew. We were very fortunate to have had a grandma close by to share those precious moments over the last 29 years.
Mom and Ron did much travelling over the years to Mexico, Hawaii, and Yuma Arizona in their 5th wheel meeting up with her brother Wally and Sam and many other friends. They enjoyed camping and boating in various places throughout B.C., especially the Okanagan Valley and Cawston which is where she called home for many years prior to moving to Vancouver Island.
There are no possible words to describe the loss of my sweet Mother, my friend. Life will be forever changed for all of us. Fly free with the birds.
We will miss you Momma,
with love your daughter Laurie xoxo
