August 9, 1941 - March 9, 2019
Sonja was born in Vancouver to Mark and Anne Kolodychuk. The family returned to Alberta soon after, initially to their farm at Haight, then moved to Poe. Sonja attended the rural school at Poe and completed her education at Holden, before moving to Edmonton.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Carroll MacLean, son Roger Hartt and grandson Jonathan, both of Port Coquitlam; sisters Connie Conarroe (Keremeos) and Marcia (Art) Auch (Edmonton), as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents and brother-in-law Ron Conarroe.

She spent most of her professional life working in the Commercial Insurance industry in Edmonton and Vancouver.

After retiring, Sonja and Carroll moved to Keremeos in 2007. She spent many enjoyable days tending to her beautiful back-yard gardens experimenting with new plants, textures and colours. She was generous with her home, and had a charismatic smile that was enjoyed by all when she was hosting her friends and neighbours indoors and outside (many happy-hour get-togethers on the patio).

Her more private pastimes were gleefully defeating her husband at Backgammon, solving crossword puzzles, reading the latest novels, playing cards, other board/computer games and travelling down south in the winter. She was especially proud of her grandson Jonathan and his achievements.

Sonja passed away suddenly on March 9, 2019 and will be greatly missed by all. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
