She grew up on the family farm, a loving, caring and generous sister and very special aunt to all her nieces and nephews. She was a wonderful cook and very talented seamstress. She spent many years working and caring for Bill Lawrence on a farm near Rosetown. After Mr. Lawrence passed away, Rachel moved to Saskatoon, took a business course and worked as a secretary in the College of Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan.

In June of 1972 Rachel married Wemyss Dickson and moved to Deroche B.C. where they owned and operated a fishing vacation site. They later retired to Chilliwack, B.C. After Wemyss 'passing in 2005, and later due to failing health, Rachel moved to Keremeos to reside with her sister Annette. She eventually entered the Orchard Haven Health Centre where she passed away.

The family thanks the caregivers and staff of Orchard Haven for the incredible care and attention she received during her stay. We are also deeply indebted to Annette, Emile, and Carol for their loving care and daily visits during Rachel's last few years in the care home Rachel was a kind and loving friend to all, a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to Wemyss' children.

Funeral service for Rachel will be held at Lady of Our Loudes Catholic church in Keremeos on Friday March 2nd at 11 AM.
