Margery Joan Borton passed away on January 17th in Summerland in her 98th year.

She is lovingly remembered by daughters Maretta (Paul Reinholdt) and Margery (Dave Barker) and son Vaughan.  She is survived by 7 grandchildren (Michelle, Peter, Allison, Joe, Warren, Erik, and Adelle), 16 great-grandchildren, and her sister Barbara.

Joan was predeceased by husband Clyde after 69 years of marriage.  They began married life in a log cabin and working a gold claim near Spence's Bridge.  Later they lived in Vancouver, Princeton, Lumby, Keremeos, and Cawston.  Always hard-working, she was the first woman in BC hired to work in a government liquor store.

In retirement in Cawston Joan enjoyed bowling and painting (Sagebrush Painters) and always cared deeply for animals and birds.  She had recent happy times and a special friendship with Egon.  Her family were her pride and joy.

The family thanks Dr. Richardson and Seniors Village in Summerland for helping take care of Joan over the past 7 years.

A family gathering will be held at a later date.

If one wishes, donations in Joan's memory may be made to the SPCA or Critteraid.
