Work continues on the highway widening project underway between Twin Lakes Road and the west end of Yellow Lake on Highway 3A.

Rampaul Dulay, Project Manager with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastrucutre reports that the contractor has completed 75 per cent of the clearing and grubbing works associated with the highway improvements.

Drilling and blasting is proceeding as Wiltech Consultants, contractors for the work, move a total  of 86,000 cubic metres of rock material. Excavation of the soil cut areas is ongoing at the same time.

It is estimated that 85,000 cubic metres of soil will also be excavated to provide room for a four foot wide shoulder on each side of the road. The soil excavation is 20 per cent complete.

One hour closures  of the highway, which began on February 15, will continue for the safety of the travelling public and for the workers. Closures remain in effect from 10 to 11 a.m. and again from 4 to 5 p.m. For more information, motorists are asked to contact Dylan Christensen, Wiltech office at 250-497-5790, or 250-808-8285 for highway closure information.
