A fundraiser in late April will raise money for a kitchen at the Moog and Friends Hospice House in Penticton.
The fundraiser, Wine and Art — Because you care, is presented by the Okanagan members of the Sovereign Order of St. John.
The fundraiser will be held April 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Time Winery, 361 Martin St., Penticton.

Wine and art will be on display at the winery. Those who attend will be able to pik their favourites. When lottery numbers are drawn at random, the winners can pick the wine or art they want.
In addition, the winery will be auctioning off a “wall of wine” with 100 bottles from the entries to the 2018 Pacific Northwest Wine Competition and wines from the cellar of Harry McWatters.
Money raised from this event will be matched by the Sovereign Order of St. John, to a maximum of $20,000, for the kitchen at the hospice house.
Linda Brooks, volunteer coordinator at the hospice house, said the $80,000 kitchen project is almost finished.

The order has already given $45,000 for the project and now needs to raise the final $35000.
Brooks said the building is 20 years old and the kitchen has been well used over the years.
When the new kitchen is completed, a second kitchen will also be available for use by volunteers and family members.
“We will have a new kitchen that is specifically for their use,” she said.
She added that this new kitchen will be much like the kitchen in a home. It will allow family members to make meals for loved ones at the facility.
“We wanted this to be as much like a home here rather than like a facility,” Brooks said.
