Windy day for wagon wheel dedication

The usual Keremeos wind tried its best to thwart the event on Saturday, September 28, but the museum society carried on regardless. We were able to hold the dedication of the plaque thanking the donors for their kind support of rebuilding the wheels on the Willis Ranch wagon.

The Anglican Church answered our last minute plea and we moved all the festivities indoors where the tea, coffee and cake were enjoyed by everyone, especially the children.

It was a special day with attendance by people ranging in age from 6 to 90 years old.  Special guests, Wally Curr, Carl Kickbush, and Frannie (Willis) Schneider attending.  Many a tale was told of the “good old days”.

Such social afternoons always make me feel that there needs to be more of them.

Chris Matthieson was on hand to offer a free lunch at the Grist Mill to all the donors to the wagon wheel fund. What a great example of community support with the Grist Mill Society supporting our endeavours and the museum Society offering support to the Grist Mills functions.

It’s people like these that grow strong communities!
