Wages exceed $9M for Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen staff

Details released in Statement of Financial Information for 2021

Wages paid to staff and employees at the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen topped $9 million in 2021.

The wages were listed in the Statement of Financial Information for 2021. This public document is published by local governments no later than the end of June each year.

The total remuneration paid to staff at the regional district came to $9,023,542 in 2021. This included $196,874 in overtime wages for emergency operations.

A total of 44 staff members at the regional district received wages of more than $75,000. Their combined wages came to $4,282,055 in 2021.

Bill Newell, chief administrative officer for the regional district, was the highest-paid member of staff, receiving $184,156 for his role in 2021.

Mark Woods, manager of community services, received $148,294, Sean Vaisler, manager of emergency services, received $141,294 and Jim Zaffino, manager of finance received $129,327.

The consolidated totals of all regional district employees receiving $75,000 or less came to $4,741,485 in 2021.

In addition, expenses claimed by staff at the regional district came to $78,271.
