VIDEO: Oliver pot shop welcomes customers back after suspicious fire in February

The Pot Doctor business re-opened March 10 in a temporary building at the same location

The Pot Doctor in Oliver is open for business and welcoming customers after a suspicious fire on Feb. 22.

There is still no new information about the arson that was caught on video surveillance.

In the video, it shows a slender man wearing what appears to be a ski mask, colourful jacket and jeans crawling into the business and then pouring an accelerant on the ground.

The Pot Doctor shop fire took place at 4:40 a.m., Feb. 22.

The Pot Doctor was temporarily closed but re-opened March 10 in the same location.

“We are currently in a temporary building and we do plan to rebuild. We are looking forward to seeing all our wonderful customers,” said The Pot Doctor’s Bianca Andre.

The night of the fire, Oliver Fire Department responded to reports of smoke off Highway 97 where the Pot Doctor is located. They arrived to find flames in a trailer and The Pot Doctor business.

Quick work by the responding firefighters stopped the blaze from spreading throughout the business, said Oliver Fire. Oliver RCMP continues to investigate.

There have been several suspicious fires in Oliver over the past three months. The most recent was on the outside of Global Grocers and at the same time a vehicle was also set on fire on March 13. Those two fires aren’t believed to be connected, said RCMP.
