A Summerland Secondary School graduate who was involved in numerous high school events has received the high school’s top honour.

Devyn Slade was presented with the Verrier Award, an annual presentation for the top overall student at the school.

The award recipient also receives the Matsu Memorial Scholarship.

During her time at the high school, Slade was involved in grad council, the youth council and three years of school theatre.

She also was a wellness mentor for two years and participated in the school’s wellness retreat for all four yers.

In addition, Slade has been involved in dance.

“Ever since Day One, I always knew I wanted to be as involved as I could, but I never thought it would amount to this,” she said.

Alan Stel, principal of the high school, described Slade as an ideal candidate for the award.

“She’s full of humility. She’s humble and kind,” he said.
