A Vernon doctor facing six charges of sexual assault has plead guilty to one so far.
Peter Inkpen entered a guilty plea in Vernon Law Courts on Feb. 29, 2024, ahead of his trial that was set to begin on March 4.
“The trial dates have now been cancelled because of the guilty plea,” confirms Ann Seymour, acting communications counsel with the BC Prosecution Service.
Inkpen will be back in court Wednesday, March 6 to fix a date for sentencing.
Inkpen is currently on trial for another sexual assault charge. That trial began on Monday, Feb. 26 and is scheduled to wrap up on Friday, March 1.
He is also facing another four counts of sexual assault.
The accused 42-year-old was arrested on July 14, 2022 and was released on conditions to have no contact with the victims.
At that time there were two sexual assault charges and Vernon North Okanagan RCMP issued a press release to the public believing there may be others with more information regarding the incidents.
On Jan. 25, 2024, four more counts of sexual assault were approved against Inkpen.
