A vehicle caught fire on Highway 3A in Olalla Wednesday afternoon.
Around 1:05 p.m., a black SUV pulled over to the shoulder when flames started coming through what appeared to be the hood of the vehicle.
The people in the SUV got out fast while the flames grew, according to one witness, Kim Wade. The vehicle is near the Victoria mobile home park on Highway 3A. It’s believed emergency crews are on scene.
DriveBC is not showing a vehicle incident. It’s not known whether traffic is getting through or not.
It was only last Thursday when evacuated Olalla residents were allowed to go back home from the Keremeos Creek wildfire.
That same week, a wildfire sparked when a large vehicle caught fire on Highway 3 near Osoyoos spreading to the nearby hill which turned into the Richter Mountain wildfire.
The blaze grew to 50 hectares before BC Wildfire declared it being held.
