Keremeos maintenance worker Matt Lougheed makes irrigation repairs on Seventh Avenue last week while Eugene Deschamps patches potholes in the background. May is an even busier time than usual for the outside workers as village infrastructure is prepared for the upcoming summer season.

Keremeos Village Council faced an extremely light evening of business at the regular meeting of council on May 6.

Council heard Barb Haynes, General Manager for Challenge Penticton. Haynes made a presentation to council echoing a similar one  made to the regional district board on May 18.

The Challenge race is expecting to eventually generate higher returns financially, some of which will be returned to the communities through which the race runs, Haynes told council. She encouraged anyone with ideas for improving the race to contact her.

A request from the Social Planning and Research Council of BC to declare June 1 “Access Awareness Day” in Keremeos was granted.

Council did not deal with any staff reports, bylaws or new business. There were no questions from the gallery, and the public meeting ended without further discussion.
