People report hearing a big boom before the flames at South Main and Pineview

Update: 11:05 a.m.

An investigation is underway into an early morning fire that destroyed townhouses that were in development.

According to assistant fire chief Rob Trupp, crews arrived on the scene at about 6:30 a.m. to visible flames coming from a two-storey home.

Crews fought the fire from the north and south side of the structure, according to Trupp.

Two engines and six firefighters initially responded to the blaze, however, the third alarm was quickly called for additional crews.

“Excellent work by on-scene crews managed to keep the fire confined to the new construction building,” said Trupp.

There were no reported injuries. City crews were called in to deal with ice build up and slippery roads.

Security remains on scene.
