Employees from Valley First’s Keremeos branch will be collecting donations for Feed the Valley during the Keremeos rodeo parade on May 23.
“The rodeo parade is a proud feature of our community,” says Valley First’s Josie VanDiemen. “So is the food bank. Collecting donations during the parade is a great way for us to support the parade and food bank.”
Branch employees have entered a small float in the parade. Part of their entry includes Feed the Valley shopping carts which will be used to collect non-perishable items for the Cawston-Keremeos area food bank. Cash donations are also welcomed.
Launched in March 2010, Feed the Valley is a corporate citizenship program created by Valley First. In its first year, Feed the Valley raised more than $180,000 and collected 8,000 kilograms of food donations for food banks throughout the Okanagan, Similkameen and Thompson regions.
Valley First is a division of First West Credit Union, B.C.’s third-largest credit union, which has 37 branches and 29 insurance offices throughout the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, Kitimat and Okanagan, Similkameen and Thompson valleys.
