It appears as though the historic Kaleden Hotel Park will head into the future with some new structural upgrades.
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is engaging with structural engineers “to prepare and provide detailed plans” for upgrades to the more than 100-year-old heritage-listed property, located at Second Street and Ponderosa Avenue in Kaleden.
Work this summer will see geomatics and geotechnical crews on-site to perform various tasks, the regional district said this week.
“The RDOS anticipates minimal impact on the park and its use and no effect on local traffic,” reads a press release.
The hotel was first constructed in 1911 but closed a few years later because of the First World War.
The RDOS purchased the property in 1979 with thoughts of developing the site.
The site’s park is connected to Kettle Valley Rail Trail and remains a popular spot for photographers and events.
