Stolen urn returned just before Christmas in Penticton

Two urns containing loved ones ashes were stolen out of a vehicle in early November

Andrea Michelle had a Christmas miracle of sorts after someone returned a very special urn that had been stolen from a vehicle in Penticton in early November.

Michelle has been reaching out to Facebook groups across Penticton asking people to be on the lookout for the urn that contained a loved one’s ashes. Since early November, no information about the urn turned up until Nov. 29.

“Somehow the right person got their hands on the urn. I’m not sure how but I’m forever grateful,” said Michelle.

There were actually two urns stolen that contained her dad and her stepmother’s ashes.

They were stolen from a vehicle parked at Paris Street and Waterford.

Video surveillance footage shows a man with a yellow jacket and big backpack rifling through the vehicle and scoping up neighbouring vehicles.

The thief made off with the box that contained the two urns.

The next day, one urn was found but the blue urn remained missing.

Michelle thanks everyone in the community who helped bring the urns back to her.
