Special cold weather snowflake formations in the Okanagan

Dendrite snowflakes form in very cold weather

An Okanagan-based photographer captured special snowflakes that only form during frosty weather events.

Kelowna’s José María Salmerón said that the specific formations, which are called dendrite snowflakes, only occur during extremely cold weather.

He used a macro lens to capture the tiny branch-like ice crystals on the snowflakes.
