South Okanagan Similkameen weekly COVID-19 cases stay steady

Penticton continued to record the highest number of cases with 30 for the week

COVID-19 numbers in the South Okanagan dropped overall, according to the BC CDC while Penticton continued to record the highest number of cases in the South Okanagan-Similkameen region with 30 for the week of April 18 to 24.

The local health area containing Oliver and Osoyoos saw six new cases, Summerland 12 cases and Keremeos and Princeton both recorded two new cases each.

The COVID-19 cases in Keremeos were one resident and one staff member of the Orchard Haven long-term care facility, according to an outbreak alert issued by Interior Health last week.

The previous week from April 11 to 17, saw 28 cases for Penticton and 21 in Oliver and Osoyoos. Summerland recorded six cases, and Princeton and Keremeos both went the week without new cases.

The Central Okanagan continues to record the highest number of cases in the Interior, seeing 215 cases for April 18 to 24, down from 242 the week before.

Interior Health reported 74 new cases for Wednesday, April 28, while the province reported 841.

There are currently 36 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 in the Interior.
