Sizzling Sizzlefest weekend

It truly was a Sizzlefest weekend in Keremeos as temperatures soared Saturday.

It truly was a Sizzlefest weekend in Keremeos as temperatures soared Saturday, adding to the culinary heat already present in Memorial Park.

An effective advertising campaign and perfect late summer weather factored in a very successful Sizzlefest in Keremeos on the weekend. Hundreds turned up throughout the day to engage in the various heat related contests - the chili cook-off, best hot sauce contest, and chili pepper eating contest - as participants, judges, or spectators. Others enjoyed the entertainment - the Corner Turtles in the morning, followed by Mat Duffus through the noon hour and The Blackbirds filling the afternoon slot. The climbing wall, bouncy castle, and face painting activities returned again this year to provide something for the kids to do.

The late summer sun was blazing throughout the afternoon, which resulted in steady stream of patrons through the beer garden. Sizzlefest attracted more vendors this year, which resulted in a bigger selection of food and more representation by local growers and vendors.
