Local actress Michelle Thrush’s latest endeavour is coming to a television near you.

Thrush stars in the series, “Blackstone”, set to air on the APTN network on January 25, and on the Showcase channel beginning January 28.

Blackstone is a series of nine one hour long episodes. The series was filmed last summer in Edmonton after the pilot episode attracted rave reviews, picking up several awards in the Alberta entertainment industry.

The pilot episode also netted Thrush, who resides in the Ashnola, with a Best Supporting Actress award in the United States at the American Indian Film Festival last year.

Described as intense, compelling and confrontational, Blackstone is an unmuted exploration of First Nations’ power and politics, unfolding over nine one-hour episodes. The drama tells the story of the fictional Blackstone First Nation, suffering disintegration by its own hand – the result of the corruption of its Chief and Council. From within the community, a new generation of leaders rise up and fight to create lasting and substantial change.
