Similkameen politicians to meet cabinet ministers at UBCM

Local politicians to discuss issues with provincial members

Local politicians have signed up to meet with several provincial ministers during the upcoming UBCM convention, which takes place in Vancouver at the Trade and Convention Centre between September 26-30.

Elef Christensen, Area “G” director, will be meeting with Environment Minister Terry Lake to discuss Keremeos Creek, as will Keremeos Mayor Walter Despot.

Christensen will also be meeting with Minister of Labour, Citizen’s Services and Open Government Stephanie Cadieux, to discuss communication issues in rural areas of Area “G” including the lack of cell service between Princeton, Keremeos, and Penticton.

He will also meet with Steve Thompson, Minister of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resources to discuss issues surrounding the Grist Mill and local smoke control bylaws.

Mayor Despot will also be attending the session.
