The West Kelowna Fire Department responded to calls about a house on fire early Friday morning around 2:40 a.m.

Crews arrived at a house in the Smith Creek neighbourhood to find visible flame and smoke coming from a bedroom room in a house.

Along with the assistance of crews from the Lakeview Heights and Glenrosa stations, the fire was put out quickly, with just some minor damages to the home. All six occupants and three pets were able to escape the blaze.

One of the occupants was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation after they tried to put the fire out before crews arrived. No one else was injured.

The cause is still to be determined but it has been deemed accidental in nature.
