Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen chair to step down

The chair of the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen board will step down from her role when the board election is held in early November.

Karla Kozakevich, director for Electoral Area E, representing Naramata, has served as the chair of the board for the past five years.

At the board meeting on Oct. 21, she announced she will remain on the board, but will not seek re-election as chair. The board will elect its chair and vice-chair at the Nov. 4 meeting.

“I have made a change and a commitment to spend more time with my family,” she said. “I look forward to a change at the board helm.”

The 19-member regional district board consists of representatives from communities and elected bodies in the South Okanagan and Similkameen. The regional district covers an area of 10,413 square kilometres and has a population of more than 81,000.
