The RCMP Musical Ride will perform two shows in Princeton, August 11 and 12.

Tickets for the upcoming RCMP Musical Ride are flying out the door of the Princeton Legion.

The tickets went on earlier this month and in one day the Legion raked in $1,000.

“I was blown away,” said Legion president Doreen Poulsen.

“That phone never stopped ringing,” she said, adding people were knocking on the door before the Legion opened for business.

“I didn’t even actually have them with me and I had to turn away a number of people, but obviously they came back.”

The musical ride takes place August 11 and 12 at the Princeton fairgrounds, and there will be a show each day.

“We are hoping to get at least 800 people each day but we are going to actually sell tickets up to 1,000 per day.”

The famed musical ride will be opened by a performance of the RCMP dog squad. The event will include the Princeton Community Band, a concession, pancake breakfast and vendors’ market.

A “meet the riders” dinner will be held Friday, August 10 at the Legion, and 80 tickets for that are on sale now for $10 each.

“The real importance of this is when it comes to something of this significance, it’s huge for a small town like this, that we can work together,” said Poulsen.

“The town is behind us 100 per cent. I think that it will be a huge success.”

Tickets for the ride can be purchased at the Legion.

Cost is $5 for children six-11, and $10 for anyone 12 and older. Children under five are free, and family passes for two adults and children are $25.
