RCMP have confirmed they are investigating an act of mischief after tires were slashed on bailiff moving trucks that were at the 377 Winnipeg St. residence.

“Upon the movers and the bylaw officers approaching the man, he held up a large butcher style knife toward the group, and was then able to flee on a bicycle toward Wade Ave/Winnipeg St.,” said Grandy in a press release.

No one was injured in the altercation.

Grandy said police flooded the area, however a suspect was not located.

The suspect is described as having a dark complexion, shoulder length dark hair, black clothing and was riding a green coloured bicycle.

There was more action at one of Penticton’s most infamous properties — 377 Winnipeg — Tuesday afternoon.

RCMP are investigating reports that a moving company van had its tires slashed. A witness reports seeing a man pull out a knife then hearing a couple of big pops followed by a man taking off on a bike he had stashed nearby.

The City of Penticton’s bylaw officers were on scene boarding up the windows on the building, along with a moving company which was there to empty the house. RCMP, bylaw and the Penticton Fire Department attended the home earlier this month when the property owner served the tenants with a notice to vacate.

The house has been considered a “known problem property” for some time. Power and water were shut off to the home in late March, and residents had been using kerosene heaters and portable generators for electricity.
