Seven years after leaving the Okanagan to chase her dreams of professional racing, driver Sarah Cornett-Ching is coming back home to race the Penticton Speedway.
Cornett-Ching is partnering with Simpson Racing Solutions for the first three of five late-model races at the Speedway this summer.
Racing across the tracks of the Nascar circuit, Cornett-Ching also is tied for the second-highest finishing points for a season in the ARCA Series for a Canadian, and tied for the highest as a female driver.
She’s has had the opportunity to race Daytona, Talladega, Michigan, Chicagoland, Pocono, Bristol to name a few.
Coming back to race at the track where she grew up is still something special.
“I can’t express enough my excitement to come back to race at Penticton Speedway, the memories I have there are so special to me. Not just being at the track again but having my dad shoulder to shoulder with me again is something you just can’t replicate,” said Cornett-Ching.
The late-model races that she will be participating in will be held on June 18, July 30 and 31, Sept. 10 and Oct. 2. Tickets for the races are $20, and tickets purchased from Cornett-Ching come with entries into a draw for one of 10 free t-shirts per race.
Tickets are available at: Simpson Racing Solutions at 2384 Government street and ANJ Automotive at 117 Garnet Way Penticton.
“Partnering with Chris at Simpson Racing Solutions is the perfect fit because he offers all the services in Penticton that we would have down in North Carolina to get the most out of our race cars. We will be taking advantage of tuning our car for the different climate and altitude on his chassis dyno as soon as we get there.”
