The fate of Princeton Racing Days has been in question since October of 2010. The former executive whom had served for numerous years retired, many of them, for health reasons.

President John Bey has been on the search for a new executive and up until last week, was beginning to believe that Racing Days in Princeton, would be an event of the past. Bey reported that he had received 13 calls from individuals who offered to volunteer, with only one of them offering to take a position on the executive. Although Bey was grateful and welcomed the offer of volunteer services, the association still needed an executive to operate.

The answer to Bey’s call took place at the Princeton Library on January 20 at 7 p.m.

Seventeen individuals attended the Racing Days meeting, became members of the association and of those 17, nine became executive.

John Bey, whom has stated numerous times, “I just don’t want to see it go,” will remain as Princeton Racing Days Association President for one more year.

Stepping up to the plate to take on the remaining executive positions are; Vice-President, Ernie Willis; Secretary, Lisa Carleton; Treasurer, Dale Arnet and as Directors; Sue Gereau, Dorothy Lauder, Della Osborne, Marylou Terryberry and Len and Yvonne Liddicoat.

With a new executive underway, the Princeton Racing Days Association can now move forward and plan for this 40 plus years historical community event to continue.

If you are interested in Racing Days, becoming a member or a volunteer, join them at the next meeting. February 24 at 7 p.m. in the board room at Riverside Centre.
