Police activity has shown a decrease in the South Okanagan, according to the latest statistics from the RCMP.
In Oliver, there were 925 calls for service in the third quarter of 2021, down by five per cent from 970 calls for service during the same period in 2020. In Osoyoos, the number of calls for service fell by 26 per cent, with 895 calls in the third quarter of this year compared with 1,217 calls in the same period of 2020.
Both communities have seen reductions in police calls over the course of this year.

In Osoyoos, all categories of violent crime showed reductions, while in Oliver, assaults and domestic violence numbers increased. There were 34 cases of assault reported in Oliver during the third quarter of this year, up 13 per cent from the 30 cases during the same time last year. Domestic violence incidents rose from eight to 10.
Property crime figures in Osoyoos were almost unchanged in the third quarter of this year compared with the same time frame a year ago. A total of 122 incidents were reported, up from 121 in the third quarter of 2020.
In Oliver, property crimes rose from 113 incidents to 131 incidents.
Cases of mischief to property rose by 46 per cent, from 26 cases in the third quarter of last year to 38 cases in the third quarter of this year.
Incidents of mischief to property in Oliver rose by 95 per cent, from 20 cases up to 39 cases.
Thefts from vehicles in Oliver also showed an increase, rising by 60 per cent from 10 cases to 16 cases.
In Okanagan Falls, the total number of violent crime cases fell by 73 per cent, from 22 cases in the third quarter of 2020 to six cases in the third quarter of 2021.
Property crimes rose by nine per cent, with a total of 35 cases in the third quarter of this year, compared with 32 cases in the third quarter of last year.
