The Penticton Vees lost for the first time this season in a 7-1 game against the Prince George Spruce Kings.

The Vees will have their chance to get back at the Spruce Kings on Friday at the South Okanagan Events Centre when they meet up again.

Prince George set the tone for the evening and opened up the scoring shortly into the first period.

The Vees came back with a goal from captain Fin Williams to tie things up with less than three minutes to go.

It would be the only time during the night that the Vees would find the back of the net, as the Spruce Kings picked up six unanswered goals.

Vees goalkeepers Kaeden Lane and Colin Purcell did their best to weather the storm of shots, turning away 14 of 19 shots and seven of nine fired their individual way.

The Spruce Kings’ goalkeeper turned away 22 of the 23 shots he faced.

The Vees will be hosting the Spruce Kings with a 7 p.m. puck drop on Friday, Oct. 29.

The Oct. 29 game will also be First Responders Night at the SOEC, with first responders and health-care workers receiving free admission to the game with ID.
