Penticton resident helps nab alleged car thieves

A male and female were found in a stolen Surrey vehicle, possessing B&E tools

Thanks to the diligence of a Penticton resident, two alleged car thieves have been arrested.

On Dec. 19, Penticton RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 1600 block of White Lake Road. Officers located a red Honda Civic bearing a stolen Alberta licence plate with ignition damage visible and two occupants inside.

Upon investigation, the officers learned the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Surrey. The male driver was taken into custody after a short struggle and the female passenger was subsequently arrested.

Police searched the vehicle and found multiple break-and-enter tools. The male matched the suspect description involved in a Keremeos break-and-enter into a business the night prior on Dec. 18.

RCMP stated in a release that their investigation continues, alleging that the pair were involved in multiple offences and both have significant criminal records. The two are being held for a bail hearing.
