RCMP officers, community policing volunteers and Police Dog Services will be filling dog kennels with non-perishable food items and pet supplies as part of this year’s Cram the Kennel event at the Cherry Lane Shopping Centre.

In addition to the non-perishable food items, another kennel will be filled with pet supplies donations. The event runs on Dec. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., benefiting the Penticton Salvation Army Food Bank and the South Okanagan/Similkameen BC SPCA.

“The Police Dog Services will be showing off their new police dog puppies in training. We encourage the public to come out and donate any non-perishable food items, or if they prefer, pet supplies and food for the SPCA,” said Const. James Grandy in a news release.

The SPCA has submitted a wishlist of items they need donated including: recycling bags, large and extra large garbage bags, computer paper, canned dog food, soft dog treats, dish soap, cleaning supplies, HE laundry soap, hand soap, office supplies (scotch tape, pens, etc.), ziplock bags (all sizes), Staples gift cards for office supplies, store gift cards, postage stamps, Canadain Tire money and Kuranda cat and dog beds.
