Penticton RCMP investigating death

The RCMP South Okanagan Penticton Regional General Investigation Section and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the death of an adult man, found road side on Hwy 97 along the Channel Parkway on Thursday evening.

The Penticton RCMP were called at around 8:45 pm Thursday evening, July 7th, 2011 after a motorist had stopped along the Channel Parkway (Hwy 97) and noticed the deceased. Officers attended to the Channel Parkway by the old KVR railway overpass and confirmed that an adult male was found deceased in the east side ditch of Hwy 97.

“The death is being treated as suspicious at this time, mainly due to the location of where the body was found, efforts to positively identify the man and determine whether his death is criminal in nature are continuing” stated Cpl Dan Moskaluk

The body appears to be that of an male in his mid to late 40’s, investigators also located a make-shift campsite in the area, indicating that the male could be a transient. RCMP investigators and the BC Coroners Service assisted by a police service dog team and a forensic ident section member continue to examine the scene today.
