A Penticton dental clinic is celebrating five years of providing dental treatment to low — and fixed — income adults and seniors in the South Okanagan.
Henning Emergency Clinic of Kindness (HECK) Dental Clinic is holding an online auction fundraiser to support their services and provide dental care to those who can’t afford it. The main service is extracting teeth that cause pain, swelling and suffering for patients who meet income criteria.
During a recent two-day clinic, 65 teeth were pulled from just 10 patients.
HECK also assists clients with getting dentures to restore function where teeth have been pulled.
“The clients we see are so grateful for their end of suffering,” said HECK founder and coordinator Greta Henning. “When HECK treats these emergencies, it also puts less strain on community resources such as hospital emergency visits.”
Henning wants people to contemplate how everyone deserves to live without pain, and that for some, their fears and anxiety associated with dental treatment can become life-crippling.

Their current online auction is running until Dec. 19. Visit trellis.org/online-silent-auction-38 to view the auction. New items are added to the auction list daily.
The auction is the clinic’s only fundraiser of the year due to COVID-19.
