Penticton’s road crews are gearing up for another potential large storm later this week.
Although the impact can’t be predicted, the city has issued several reminders for residents regardless of the amount of snow or rain.
Snow removal will continue to be focused on primary and secondary priority areas such as main roads, steep hills, emergency routes, bus routes, school zones and collector and industrial roads, with third priority given to areas including residential streets, industrial side-streets and lanes.
Residents are asked to be aware that city work vehicles will sometimes make unexpected turns or stops and to be careful with any approach or attempt at passing.
Removing cars off of the street during a snow events allows the plows to work more efficiently and will give crews the ability to plow the entire roadway, reduce potential vehicle damage and provide faster clean-up.

Surfaces such as roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Slow down driving speeds in slippery conditions, drive to the conditions and watch for taillights ahead while maintaining a safe following distance.
Penticton’s Good Neighbour Bylaw requires property owners or property occupants to clear all sidewalks adjoining their properties of snow and ice before 11 a.m. following a weather event.
With the above zero temperatures approaching crews have been working to clear snow from catch basins to accommodate the melt. To assist with this process residents are asked to clear any snow or ice building above these basins and to report any water pooling or flooding to the City Public Works Department at publicworks@penticton.ca or 250-490-2500.
