Osoyoos RCMP is reminding cyclists and drivers to be careful on the road, as two-wheeled traffic rises along with the thermometer.

“With warmer weather now upon us, the Osoyoos RCMP would like to remind drivers to watch for pedestrians or persons on bicycles, scooters, etc.” the detachment wrote in a news release. “As well, those on bicycles or scooters are reminded to adhere to the safety rules of the road.”

That includes dismounting and walking the bicycle or scooter across a crosswalk, making eye contact with drivers while crossing, wearing a helmet, having a bell and wearing reflective clothing at night.

“Parents are encouraged to speak to their children about ways to stay safe while riding a bicycle or scooter.”
