Osoyoos is getting a downtown plaza this summer, and it may also be getting some extra support for food trucks to set up shop.
Town council will weigh whether to allow an extra food truck on the premises during the summer.
The current street food policy for the town only allows one food vendor per block, which would need to be changed to allow the proposed additional trucks.
Staff have provided proposed changes to the street food vendor selection and approval policy, as well as the town’s business licence bylaw as well.

Those changes would add to the number of food trucks or trailers permitted on public and private properties, as well as clarify where they can be located.
The report also notes that staff will continue to advise those applying for food trucks at specific locations that they must not compete with what is offered by existing restaurants and food vendors.
Also proposed are updates to fees for food vendors, with on-street vendors having to pay $1000 for the season of four consecutive months, plus pay the business license fee of $125.
Vendors located on private property are only required to pay the business license fee, and mobile vendors are required to pay $600 for the season, plus the business license fee.
Currently, vendors are required to pay $350 a month, plus an additional $150 a month per parking stall they take up.
The first three readings on the proposal were to be made by council March 9, along with any council recommendations for changes offered prior to final approval at a later date.
