It will be a while yet before people in Oliver can enjoy their Dairy Queen Blizzards.
The new 60-seat restaurant began construction at the end of 2021, and when finished will include an attached 1,900 square-foot retail space and four two-bedroom residential units on a second floor.
So far, the foundations have been put in and the walls of the first floor has been partially framed in.
Numerous residents have recently taken to Facebook to inquire when the beloved ice cream restaurant would actually open.
Oliver council gave their approval for the project in April 2021, after the lot had been sitting empty for close to 12 years.
Reached for comment, a representative from Dairy Queen stated that construction on the site is ongoing, and is still slated to be complete by late 2022.
Labour and supply chain issues have slowed construction across the province in recent months. A supportive housing project in Penticton has had its opening pushed back by a year in part due to these issues.
