It’s the type of cold you can feel in your bones - and it’s anybody’s guess as to how much longer the current weather pattern in the Simillkameen is going to last.
“There is warmer air aloft, but the air is totally stagnant and windless,” said Dave Jones, a Meteorologist with Environment Canada on Thursday, January 17.
“It’s a pretty pessimistic forecast.”
Jones said the cloud cap that Similkameen residents have been witnessing the past few days is not allowing any mixing of the warmer air above. The Friday forecast offers a bit of hope with a mixture of sun and cloud, but longer term, there is not much change forecast for the future.
“The temperatures aren’t super cold,” Jones added, “ generally in the minus three to four range, and relatively unchanged through the day and night - the temperature is completely dependent on how much cloud cover exists.”
