Area “G” Director Elef Christensen put forward a recommendation to the regional district Environmental and Infrastructure Committee meeting last week to provide the Bargain Centre Thrift Shop in Keremeos with 10 free pickup loads for drop off at the Kerermeos landfill.
The request was made in response to the Bargain Centre’s continuing problem with unusable materials being left at their outlet on Seventh Avenue.
The recommendation was defeated after Keremeos Director Walter Despot suggested that the problem be resolved in a fashion similar to last year, where Areas “B”, “G”, and the village all contributed $100 to provide dumping fees to the charitable endeavour.
