No immediate concern of flooding, says Town of Oliver

As spring freshet approaches, the Town of Oliver says there are no immediate concerns of flooding at Skaha Lake, Vaseaux Lake or Osoyoos Lake.

Currently, they explained in a release April 30, Okanagan Lake has hit the targeted low pool, and is now increasing about one centimeter per day.

Public works, the Town said, is monitoring creeks daily and are, “ready to respond as necessary.”

Monitored creeks include Wolf Club Creek, Tin Horn, Hester and Testalinden.

In addition to preparing for the freshet, sandbags have been delivered to the public works building, fire hall and Fairview Mountain Golf Course in Oliver.

Today, the Town also announced several new initiatives with regards to COVID-19, including new public toilets, bilingual signage and bylaw enforcement.
