Details are scarce, but Naramata fire chief Tony Trovao has been suspended from his position by the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen board of directors.

“There was some complaints and concerns presented to the RDOS and the board of directors,” said board chair Karla Kozakevich. “The action the board of directors chose to do at this time was to suspend pending an investigation.”

Kozakevich wasn’t able to give any further information about the complaints, other than to say an outside investigator handling the inquiry.

“There is an investigation, but being a labour issue, I can’t really discuss anything about it,” she said.

The board’s decision was made on Oct. 18, their last meeting before the election, according to Kozakevich, and Human Resources implemented the suspension on Oct. 22.

Trovao has been with Naramata Fire Rescue for about two decades, taking over as chief in 2013. The Western News has reached out to him for comment.
