A motorcyclist has been killed in a crash that closed Highway 3 in both directions in Cawston last Friday, June 2.

According to RCMP, at approximately 3 p.m., Keremeos RCMP responded to a collision in the 1900-block of Highway 3.

On arrival, emergency crews were already on scene conducting life saving techniques on the injured motorcyclist.

Evidence at the scene indicated a vehicle had pulled onto the highway in front of the oncoming motorcycle.

Unfortunately, the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased, said district RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

Numerous people on social media are saying the motorcyclist was a local young man but no age or information was given by police about the victim.

It was only three weeks ago that the community of Hedley lost two young men when a vehicle flipped into the Similkameen River. The bodies of Cory Badari and Devon Fairbrother were recovered from the submerged vehicle on May 15.

On March 26, Princeton Posse assistant coach and Penticton Silver Bullet player Morton Johnston was killed in a single vehicle crash on Old Hedley Road. Nearly $6,000 was raised and hundreds turned out for a Silver Bullets game in memory of the 25-year-old Johnston.
