A mobile home was destroyed in a blaze in Osoyoos on Sunday.

Osoyoos Fire Chief Rick Jones said the mobile home located at 146th Avenue and 97th Street was totally involved when the department arrived at 7:22 p.m.

“It was a total gut job. We are not sure at this point how it started. We didn’t get to see exactly where it started but it appears it was from the back part of the trailer,” said Jones. “Had the wind been in the other direction it could have lit up some of our desert landscape too.”

Jones said no one was in the mobile home when the first started and that it was located in the middle of an orchard. He added the fire did not cause any damage to other structures or to the orchard.

The fire department was on scene for about four hours battling the fire. The matter remains under investigation.
