Keremeos mayor Manfred Bauer has released a statement regarding staff and council’s plans going forward amid COVID-19, as well as information on Village services still available.

Bauer explained that while every day brings more challenges for everyone, and many continue to adapt to the threat of the COVID-19 virus, council and staff are trying hard to be a part of the concerted effort to keep their communities safe.

“We are working with all agencies to have a consolidated and effective approach,” reads a statement by Bauer.

He requested everyone continue to check the Village’s website regularily for updated information. As well, he said the Village will continue to send the most urgent messages to the community through their resident notification system, and post essential links to their reader board at the info centre.

“Although the doors at the Municipal Hall are closed, we are still open for business,” he said. “Please call or send us an email with questions you may have or for an appointment.”

Going forward Village council meetings will be conducted electronically, to protect staff and the public from exposure to the virus.

Bauer urged the community to continue following the instructions of the health authorities as well as the provincial and federal governments.

“I would like to thank all agencies, organizations, businesses and volunteers as well as our residents for their tremendous efforts in these very difficult times,” Bauer said.
