Mens’ counselling services in Lower Similkameen needs input

A waffle breakfast meeting will be held to receive input on kinds of counselling services

Over waffles men will decide what types of counselling services are needed for them at Lower Similkameen Community Services Society.

A Waffle Breakfast meeting in Keremeos on Saturday February 9th will be a chance for local men to help set priorities for mens’ counselling services.

The Breakfast Meeting is at The Family Centre at 10 a.m., corner of Third Street and Veterans Avenue by the rear entrance.

In an initiative sponsored by Kars Under The K, counseling services for men out of Lower Similkameen Community Services Society may come on stream soon.

The society is locally based has been an umbrella organization for area programs funded publicly and privately since 1976.

Progress of the counselling service will depend on local input.

“Our sponsor has asked that we put resources into this and this Waffle Breakfast meeting is a start,” said Dave Cursons, a program coordinator.

“The breakfast event is to hear from men affected by the whole range of issues from health to family to work through to relations with public programs, civic authorities and the law. We need to find out from men themselves, how we should set out counselling priorities.”
